Diabetes Screening Service

The overall aim of this service is to detect people with undiagnosed Type 2 diabetes through a screening service. The screening service is designed to establish the likelihood or risk that the client may possibly have diabetes or develop it at some time in the future. Symptoms of Type 2 diabetes often develop gradually over many years. Different people develop different combinations of symptoms. The symptoms are a direct result of having too much glucose in the blood and not enough in the cells. The range of symptoms:  Increased thirst  Increased passage of urine, especially at night  Extreme tiredness and lethargy  Weight loss despite increased appetite  Genital itching  Itchy skin rash  Cuts or wounds that heal slowly  Blurred vision  Tingling, pain and numbness in feet
